Feather Phoenix Blouse

Hi guys! I feel like it’s been a while since I posted anything new here. I’ve been doing so much sewing but it’s been a string of pattern tests (6 in a row!) and I haven’t been able to share much. One of the patterns that I tested released yesterday and I’m really excited to tell you about it!

This is the Phoenix Blouse from Hey June Patterns. It’s no big secret that I am a big fan of Adrianna’s patterns so I was excited to get to test this new one. It’s a really pretty boho top that comes in two lengths with a sleeved and sleeveless version. (And the sleeves from her recently released Amalfi dress work with the Phoenix pattern, so there are options for a couple of other sleeves if you have that pattern, too!) I loooooove the front yoke detail and the whole silhouette of the top.

 

The main thing I have to say about this blouse is that I love it and it was really fun to sew. Adrianna totally blew my mind with her burrito method to enclose the back yoke seams that also magically finished off the back neck edge. I can’t wait to make another one of these so I can do that fun trick again.

I made my standard Hey June size medium graded out to an XL at the high hip. I think the fit is absolutely perfect on this! The only fitting change I made was to do a 1/2″ forward shoulder adjustment, which I do on just about everything. This fabric is a rayon poplin that I had leftover from making my Fringe dress.

The fabric is so perfect for it and it’s so lovely to wear. I’m wearing it with my white Chi Town chino shorts and I think it will look great with denim, my Bryce cargo pants, or with the black Sasha trousers I have planned (which I will get to one day, right?!) I know I need to make a lightweight denim or chambray version, too. It’s going to be the perfect top for Summer!

Seriously, my advice is to go buy the pattern and get it sewn up this weekend!
