I had the pleasure of testing the recently released Arlo shorties pattern from See Kate Sew. The pattern includes an option for shorts and for pants. It comes in sizes 3M to 5. I made a pair of the shorts for Caroline and one for Andrew.
This was such a quick sew. I think the pair I made for Caroline took about 30 minutes, and the pair I made for Andrew took even less time since I didn’t add the optional gusset.
I used a bunch of knit scraps to make these. The waist is not elasticized– it’s just a wide knit band. Caroline and Andrew are both wearing their shorties with the waistbands folded over to minimize the drop-crotch look.
I picked their sizes based on what they wear in ready to wear. Caroline’s are the 6 month size and Andrew is wearing a 3T. I think they both fit great and seem really comfortable.
Next time I have a spare 30 minutes I want to make Caroline a pair of Arlo pants. I am so glad I’ve saved all of my knit scraps! This is the perfect way to use them!
